Role Summary: The Sr. Manager of Packaging Engineering will lead the packaging design, development, and qualification of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials for our cutting-edge medical devices, such as prefilled syringes and vials, as well as combination products. This role requires a strong focus on design for manufacturability, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and qualification of innovative packaging solutions for medical devices and combination products.
  • Oversee the selection and testing of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of packaging solutions into the product lifecycle.
  • Drive initiatives for sustainable packaging practices and materials to support corporate sustainability goals.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in packaging design and materials without compromising quality and compliance.
  • Manage and mentor a team of packaging engineers, providing guidance and support for professional development.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in packaging technology to ensure the company remains at the forefront of packaging innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in packaging engineering, with a focus on medical devices and parenteral products.
  • Proven experience in the design and development of packaging for injectables, prefilled syringes, vials, and combination products.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, testing methods, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to sustainability and cost-efficiency in packaging design.
