Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Manager is a key member of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's facilities team, responsible for designing, modifying, and managing projects related to mechanical systems and equipment. This role requires a high level of autonomy and technical expertise, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project plans, scope, and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical projects
  • Manage and coordinate with internal and external consultants and resources to ensure project completion
  • Perform engineering quality assurance reviews of large-scale and complex construction and renovation projects
  • Identify and develop short- and long-term capital needs for mechanical systems and equipment
  • Prepare and present capital and operations planning recommendations to senior leadership
  • Maintain documentation and records required for hospital accreditation and regulatory compliance
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license and at least 5 years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design
  • Excellent engineering and office software skills, as well as strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Considerable experience with hospital mechanical systems and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and customer-focused environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within a 60-mile radius of the Wexner Medical Center's main campus
Preferred Qualifications
  • LEED AP BD+C, CEM, CHFM, and/or Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification
  • Experience with hospital HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Strong team collaboration and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment
