Family Ministries Coordinator
  1. St. Vincent de Paul
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church is a quickly growing parish with active members from all age ranges.   1. Summary
The Family Ministries Coordinator (hereafter called "coordinator") assists the Director of Catechesis and Evangelization (hereafter called "director") with the formation of parents and children in the Sacramental Preparation programs. Additionally, the coordinator oversees the middle and high school youth programs and ensures that the entire family receives formation.
  1. Sacramental Preparation
The coordinator assists the director in the following Sacramental Programs:
  • 2nd grade: First Reconciliation (class of about 80 children)
  • 3rd grade: Confirmation & First Communion (class of about 80 children)
  • Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, adapted for children (RCIC) Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist for children over the age of 7
  • (potential) Confirmation in 5th grade and above
  • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Responsibilities in these programs includes:
  • Assist with curriculum development
  • Register and place students into different classes
  • Answer parent questions via email
  • Set up and take down chairs, tables, and food for the evenings
  • Teach dynamic lessons at monthly evening sessions to parents and children
  • Help to recruit and train a team of catechists and volunteers to work with children
  • Recruit volunteers for set-up
  • Collect and distribute materials for session activities
  • Be present for the Wednesday evening sessions (2-3 evenings/month Sept-April)
  • Assist with two retreats (both on one Saturday in the spring)
  • Help set up for and assist with sacrament days (usually 3 days on weekends in the spring)
  • Form adults going through RCIA in one on one meetings
  1. Family Faith Formation
The Coordinator brainstorms with the Director and helps execuse the following potential events on a case by case basis:
  • Totus Tuus
  • (Potential) Family Sundays
  • Other programs as mutually agreed upon
  1. Youth Ministry
The coordinator will build, coordinate, and manage high school and middle school youth programs under the supervision of the director:
  • Starts and builds new high school and middle school programs in the parish
  • Gathers volunteers and formators required for ministry
  • Manages and communicates retreat and other external formation opportunities
  • Attends all evening and weekend sessions as planned (currently monthly on Sunday evenings from 5-8 PM)
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Works with Catechesis and Evangelization Team: Pastor, Director of Catechesis and Evangelization, FOCUS Missionaries, Director of Communications, and School Principal
  • Participates in Catechesis and Evangelization meetings, collaborates with other team members to support their ministries and events
  • Reports to Director of Catechesis and Evangelization
  • Attends Archdiocesan workshops and trainings for Family Faith Formation
  • Collaborates with St. Vincent de Paul staff and teachers
  • Manages Family Catechesis budget
Qualifications

Qualifications
  • 2 Years ministry experience
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods of time
  • Dynamic Speaking and Communication Abilities
  • Willing to work evening and weekends
Compensation:
  • Position is part time, with average hours of 20-25/week with an hourly rate of $25.
