We currently have an exciting opportunity at our Pogo operation for a Project Resource Geologist to join our high performing team on an attractive 15/13 roster. Pogo is a world class and well-established gold mining operation located in central Alaska.

This opening is available for a keen Project Geologist to fast track their career in the field of Resource Geology. In this role, you will enhance your skills in 3D modelling using industry leading software packages and gain exposure to the practical side of Resource Estimation, to get you ready for promotional opportunities within the team, to see you grow into a senior capacity with our business.

As the Project Resource Geologist, your main responsibilities will include:

  • The execution of site grade control models.
  • Meeting deadlines for key deliverables to drive production.
  • 3D modelling of a gold narrow vein ore body.
  • Resource estimation.
  • Report writing.
  • QA/QC monitoring, including lab audits.
  • Core logging.
  • Leading specialist projects as assigned by your mentor.
  • Leading the validation of the geology mapping and assay results to ensure integrity of data.

Required skills and experience:

  • A degree in Geology, preferably with Honors, from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Minimum 3 years geological experience in the mining industry, the majority of which is preferably in gold or an underground operation.
  • Previous exposure to resource and grade control estimation processes.
  • Sound experience in wireframing.
  • Experience in the use of Geological Software (Vulcan, Leapfrog, AcQuire or similar)
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with multiple departments

The Details:

Working a 15 day on, 13 day off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
