The Transportation Specialist will have the responsibility of ensuring the safe and timely transport of materials under NAVSEA cognizance to meet customer demands for service. More specifically, the duties include:
- Supporting SEA05R in the development of NAVSEA materials transportation policy and implementing instructions
- Representing NAVSEA's material transportation interests at various forums and conferences
- Analyzing changes in policy manuals affecting material transport
- Collaborating with different entities to develop new procedures for packaging and transporting materials
- Monitoring global transportation events to ensure compliance with regulations
- Providing support for emergency shipments and urgent requirements
- Assisting in the management and administration of budget data calls and Transportation Account Code issues
- Supporting property control and maintenance of intermodal containers and equipment
- Reviewing and updating all NAVSEA transportation instructions and directives
This role is eligible for telework.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant transportation system experience
- Expert knowledge of DoD and Navy-wide transportation principles and policies
- Experience in NAVSEA cargo traffic management support
Desired Skills and Experience
- Master's Degree and other certifications are desired
- Knowledge of NAVSEA PEO and PM organizations
Required Clearance
Must have an active DoD secret clearance.
