Join The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as a Transportation Specialist and contribute to the development of international policies and guidelines for vehicle safety.

About the Role

This position is part of the International Harmonization and Policy Division, where you will provide technical and policy guidance to the Director, Chief, and Associate Administrator. Your expertise will be essential in representing Agency positions with various stakeholders and foreign governments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analyses of rulemaking projects related to global safety regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the agency's rulemaking activities and disseminate global regulatory information to the public.
  • Participate in critical reviews of strategies presented by technical program offices, ensuring conformance to agency policy and completeness.
  • Monitor and review research and analyses conducted by experts, both within and outside NHTSA.
  • Collaborate with other offices to develop positions for U.S. representatives at international organizations' meetings.
  • Develop background information and reports, and serve as a liaison with the Chief, Director, and Associate Administrator on regulatory matters.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the state-of-the-art in areas such as vehicle structures, occupant restraints, and accident data analyses.
  • Prepare Federal Register notices and assist in planning public meetings on international regulatory matters.
  • Assist the Director with public affairs responsibilities, coordinating presentations and writing/reviewing materials for publication.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for consideration.
  • Specialized experience in developing, revising, and presenting technical information, working with international organizations, and applying principles to conduct analytical reviews.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
