The ideal candidate will be personable and outgoing, have previous professional experience with development or recruitment, and the ability to propose and execute creative strategies to grow and retain membership. Compensation depends on experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities.

  • The Membership Development Director leads all aspects of membership recruitment and retention, including:
  • Recruiting and retaining members in various programs and categories.
  • Creating materials and recognition programs promoting participation and membership.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with KTLA members and within the legal community, including regional law schools.
  • Entering and tracking data relating to dues, pledges, payments, and activities within the KTLA database, and updating member records as needed.
  • Supporting and promoting association programming and benefits.
  • Researching new services and benefits and determining member needs.
  • Projecting membership recruitment and attrition trends
  • Overseeing the membership renewal process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: 5+ years in membership development or comparable experience in a similar position and demonstrated effectiveness.
  • Background in customer service, current knowledge of business functions and processes, and previous experience in a professional office environment.
  • Preferred: prior non-profit experience.
  • Knowledge of the legal profession.
  • Ethical conduct as demonstrated by character and integrity.
  • Experience with association management software, or donor databases. The incumbent must have the ability to use and adapt to computer technology and software. The position will be required to use MemberCentral Association Management Software, enter data, and maintain membership records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 360 including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and associated applications such as Canva and Zoom.
  • A valid drivers license, safe driving record, reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance.
  • A Technical Certificate or associate degree in a relevant business profession is required. A 4-year degree in a relevant profession is preferred.
