Job Description and Duties

This position is a 12-month Limited-Term position that may be extended and/or become permanent.

Staff Services Analyst will also be considered for recruitment purposes.


Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II (Policy Manager), the Policy Analyst serves as a subject-matter generalist responsible for developing fundamental documentation, drafting, providing, and presenting original complex analysis using technical information to the members of the California Underground Safety Board (Board), to stakeholders, and to relevant state and federal agencies.

Working Conditions

  • Energy Safety will utilize a Hybrid Remote/In-person approach enabling staff to telework, when approved by management.
  • Energy Safety will use shared workspaces for most staff (hoteling stations) when required to work in the office.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel, including overnight stays, and on occasion be required to work unusual hours
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours, nights, and/or weekends to meet the Department's business needs.

The mission of the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (Energy Safety) is to advance long-term utility infrastructure safety through data-driven, wildfire mitigation evaluation and compliance, excavation standards and education, in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, and in support of improved utility infrastructure, safety culture, and innovation.
