Additionally, the specialist provides guidance to both clinical and non-clinical departments, ensuring that patient communication is comprehensive, patient-centered, and meets national health literacy standards.
Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Health Education, Communication, Nursing, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Experience in the field of health education
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with clinical caregivers as a patient education specialist, consultant, and project manager
- Stay updated on best practices in health literacy and patient-centered communication
- Champion health literacy principles in all patient communications
- Manage the creation of written patient education materials from research to proofreading
- Ensure patient publications comply with Essentia Health's standards including health literacy, branding, and regulatory requirements
- Provide project management and consultative support for patient education goals
- Coordinate material translations in collaboration with interpreter services
- This role is mainly remote with occasional onsite work required for specific projects, presentations, and training
- Candidates must reside within Essentia service areas (North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin)
- 3+ years of related health education experience
- Master's degree in relevant field
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and/or certification by the Institute for Healthcare Advancement (IHA) are preferred
- No certification/licensure required
- Preferred: CHES, IHA, or similar certification or willingness to acquire within 2 years

Pay Range
$52,732 per year
Note: The actual compensation offer will depend on various factors including experience, skills, and internal equity within the team.
