About the Role:


Under supervision, the Park Ranger Supervisor oversees various tasks in law enforcement, fee collection, visitor services, interpretive programs, wildlife protection, safety enforcement, pollution control, habitat improvement, planning and development, public relations, and more for the County Regional Parks System.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Supervisory principles and practices - including discipline, leadership, mentoring, and training
  • Law enforcement principles
  • Natural resource management and protection
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Budget management
  • Effective public and personnel relations techniques
  • Operation of communication equipment
  • First aid, CPR, and safety procedures
  • Office procedures and technology proficiency

Requirements:


Qualifications:
Possession of a valid State of California Peace Officers Standard and Training (POST) Basic Certificate;
Six years of experience in ranger activities, law enforcement, or investigative work


Additional Notes:
Sacramento County Park Rangers employed before June 1, 2007 are exempt from the POST Basic Certificate requirement.
Completion of specific college units can substitute for work experience.
Successful completion of a specific exam may be required after a period of three years since prior law enforcement employment in California.


General Requirements:
Candidates must meet specific government standards, pass background checks, hold a valid California Driver License, and obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.


Probationary Period:
The initial probation period for this role is twelve months.
