Job Summary

This is a skilled laborer position with the Department of Parks & Recreation. The successful candidate will perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including skilled and unskilled labor, to maintain state park resources and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled and unskilled maintenance tasks, including repairs, renovations, and construction activities.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, tractors, and hand tools.
  • Work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and snow.
  • Travel statewide for extended periods of time to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Work nights, weekends, and odd hours, including overtime, to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Lead a crew of seasonal employees, CCC, and ACE crews performing maintenance and construction activities.
Requirements
  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Special Requirements
