As a member of the Human Resources team, the HR Specialist I will be responsible for recruiting and retaining production team members, driving employee engagement, participating in employment investigations, handling sensitive documentation related to personnel activities, and supporting the training of employees.

Description:

  • Records data for each employee, including such information as addresses, weekly earnings, logistics, absences, counseling issues, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
  • Perform employee advocate functions such as responding to questions pertaining to benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are all in compliance.
  • Provide information to authorized persons and organizations, such as credit bureaus and finance companies, in compliance with confidentiality practices and HIPAA regulations.
  • Recruit, interview, test, and select employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Coordinate, develop and conduct training for employees and management regarding soft skills, drug awareness, safety, harassment, etc.
  • Reviews and approves FMLA requests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three to five years generalist experience
  • Previous experience supporting a large hourly workforce

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Masters in HR or an MBA with a concentration in HR
  • Previous experience working in a JIT manufacturing environment
