About the Position:
BlueLinx is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to uphold the structural integrity and performance of our engineered wood products (EWP) in various construction projects, both residential and commercial.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, design, and optimize products like I-Joists and LVL beams to meet project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for expert guidance on product selection, application, installation, and repair.
  • Contribute to developing innovative and sustainable building solutions that prioritize safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Play a vital role in enhancing the success of our EWP business.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience, including 5+ years with a master's degree.
  • Expertise in designing wooden structures, particularly I-joists, composite lumber, rim board, and glulam beams/columns.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes and the National Design Specification (NDS) for Wood Construction.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and skilled in blueprint reading.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with isDesign and isPlan is a bonus.
Educational Background:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Structural or Civil).
  • Ability to acquire licenses in multiple states.
  • BS in Engineering; MS in Engineering is advantageous.
