JOB SUMMARY

  • Lead strategic Information Technology (IT) operations and modernization at TSLAC, setting goals and providing supervision in collaboration with program directors
  • Manage IT projects, training, and customer service, with a focus on exploring and enhancing agency technology services
  • Exercise autonomy in decision-making and oversee the work of a team


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and oversee strategic IT operations, including budget management and staff supervision
  • Act as the Information Resources Manager and Information Security Officer, handling audits and security issues
  • Manage agency data and technology infrastructure
  • Develop and enforce Information Resource standards and policies
  • Set IT goals aligned with the agency's strategic plan
  • Monitor budgets and schedules for major IT projects
  • Prepare mandatory IT reports and contribute to strategic planning
  • Provide IT support to divisions and lead information technology projects
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and safety standards


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, computer science, or related field, with four years of professional IT experience
    OR
    Six years of Information Resources Manager (IRM) experience with college credit hours in relevant areas
  • Two years of strategic technology planning experience and knowledge of audit controls and Texas state government processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and project management abilities
  • Experience with multi-platform environments, state agency IT operations, and legislative requirements
  • Ability to analyze complex technology solutions, manage organizational change, and build effective relationships
  • Capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and complying with all regulations and safety standards


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in relevant field and experience with UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems
  • Background in network operations within a Texas State Agency and Information Resources Security
  • Experience implementing IR legislative requirements for government entities


OTHER
  • Submit college transcripts and complete an in-basket writing exercise as part of the interview process

  • Reports to the Assistant State Librarian
  • Supervises a team of 10.0 FTE
