The company is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled candidate for the position of Community Outreach Manager at the Mayor's Office of Latino Affairs (MOLA) in the Executive Office of the Mayor. This role involves leading a team that engages with Latino residents to provide support in various areas such as health, housing, education, and employment.
The selected candidate must be a District resident or willing to establish residency within 180 days of hire. Priority will be given to current residents of the District of Columbia during the screening process.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Supervising a team of community outreach specialists focusing on key areas such as Health, Housing, Economic Development, Education, Employment, Food Insecurity, Arts, Creative Economy, and Public Safety.
- Coordinating outreach strategies to enhance the effectiveness of MOLA program activities.
- Conducting community studies for program improvement.
- Advocating for Latino constituents in employment, education, housing, health, and economic development.
- Representing the agency at various community activities.
- Planning and organizing community education programs and activities.
- Coordinating services among different District agencies to address community concerns.
COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capacity to work with diverse groups and senior government officials.
- Proficiency in project management and data analysis.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of partnering agencies' services and operational procedures.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.
- Experience in a multicultural environment, particularly with Limited English Proficient individuals.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Established connections within the District's Latino community.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is conducted both in-office and in the field during relevant events.
COVID-19 VACCINATION:
All District of Columbia employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must be a District resident at the time of appointment or agree to become one within 180 days. Maintaining District residency throughout employment is mandatory.
