Senior Psychiatric Physician Specialist Position at San Francisco Department of Public Health
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is on a mission to safeguard and enhance the well-being of all individuals living in San Francisco. To fulfill this mission, SFDPH operates through its two primary divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health.

As a Senior Psychiatric Physician Specialist under the guidance of Medical Directors at assigned locations, your role will involve:
- Providing direct psychiatric care and consultation
- Assessing, diagnosing, and administering psychiatric treatment for patients in an intensive care management environment, including fieldwork and collaborating closely with families
- Working in tandem with an intensive care management team, utilizing diverse therapeutic techniques
- Monitoring a caseload of clients regularly and offering cross coverage for other psychiatrists
- Participating actively in the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Engaging in clinic quality improvement initiatives
- Acting as a connection with community behavioral health providers and hospital-based psychiatric teams
- Potentially overseeing a section or unit within a larger medical facility or program
- Supervising other physicians and professional personnel when necessary
Required qualifications include:
- Possession of a valid license to practice medicine from the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California
AND
- Successful completion of a Psychiatric medical specialty area residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association
AND
- Ownership of a valid Drug Enforcement Agency registration with the United States Department of Justice
Conditions of Employment for this role:
- Eligibility to participate in federal health care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid
- Possession of a National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Completion of necessary credentialing application and documentation
- Hold a valid third-party billable provider certification OR have initiated the billable provider application process
These conditions must be met two weeks prior to the commencement of work to prevent any delays or cancellations in the employment offer.
