Role Overview:
As a key member of our Senior Division Medical Support Team, the Psychiatrist will deliver essential psychiatric services across our programs. This role encompasses responsibilities in both Alameda and San Francisco Counties, with potential collaboration with the Adult Division as required. The Psychiatrist will engage in critical medical functions including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing monitoring as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and medication assessments.
- Prescribe and monitor medications while ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
- Provide clinical supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners.
- Maintain a manageable caseload while ensuring compliance with clinical documentation standards.
- Engage in crisis intervention and perform necessary evaluations.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance client care and support.
- Facilitate education on psychopharmacology for non-medical staff.
- Coordinate with primary care providers regarding client medical issues.
- Participate in conservatorship processes as necessary.
- Contribute to the development of new service initiatives and policy recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Valid license from the appropriate California regulatory board.
- Experience working with geriatric populations is preferred.
- Strong commitment to the welfare of individuals facing behavioral health challenges.
- In-depth knowledge of diagnostic and treatment methodologies for mental health disorders.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in complex situations.
- Demonstrated social perceptiveness and service-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
- Valid California Driver's license is preferred.
