Safety Manager

OVERVIEW

This position is primarily responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Planning and implementing organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

· Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.

· Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

· Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

· Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.

· Compiles and submits accident reports required both internally and by regulatory agencies.

· Oversees the administration of the Workers' Compensation program.

· Maintains safety files and records.

· Any other duties of a similar or lesser nature as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

· Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

· Knowledge of Word Processing software; Design software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Manufacturing software,

· Spreadsheet software, and Database software.

· Technical Skills

· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

· Good math skills

· Computer skills should include familiarity with MS Office software including Word and Excel
