Position Overview: The Site Safety Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and executing safety programs and policies at the assigned site, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and fostering a secure working environment. This position reports directly to the Safety Director and requires collaboration with various departments to establish and sustain effective safety strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development:

  • Work alongside the Safety Director to create, implement, and continuously enhance site-specific safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure alignment with company-wide safety initiatives and industry best practices.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on local, state, and federal safety regulations, ensuring the site's compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify any potential compliance issues.

Training and Education:

  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor and maintain employee training records to ensure all personnel are sufficiently trained on safety protocols.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  • Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and other incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare comprehensive incident reports and submit findings to the Safety Director.

Safety Inspections:

  • Conduct routine safety inspections of the site, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address safety concerns promptly.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for the site.
  • Coordinate regular drills and training exercises to ensure personnel are adequately prepared for emergencies.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Promote a culture of safety by encouraging open communication and collaboration among employees.
  • Work closely with other departments to integrate safety considerations into daily operations.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training, and incidents.
  • Ensure documentation is organized and readily accessible for internal and external audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a safety management role, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and tools.
