The purpose of this job is to provide comprehensive city plan management and implementation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.   • Conducts comprehensive plan management. Prepares updates for plans, agreements, and grants.
  • Processes planning and development applications. Reviews building permits and business licenses. Drafts development-related agreements.
  • Administers, maintains, and revises the Unified Development Code.
  • Implements and maintains software.
  • Monitors federal transportation legislation and requirements and participates in Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and federal transportation planning conference calls and webinars.
  • Staffs and prepares reports and meeting agendas for Columbia Area Transportation Study Organization (CATSO) policy board and technical sub-committee meetings. May prepare reports for the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position spans both current (60%) and long-range (40%) planning tasks. Experience as a "lead" planner on policy or regulatory initiatives is desired.
