The Grants section is responsible for ensuring fiscal accountability of the use of funds awarded to the agency from various sources (federal grants, cooperative agreements, state grants and private grants) includingcompliance, interpreting, and applying federal regulations, cash management and reporting of expenditures.


The Accountant I is responsible for the management and coordination of federal funds accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis for the DPS Division of Emergency Management.

Theposition closely assists the Grants Supervisor with grants processing, accounting, and reporting, includingpreparing quarterly federal financial reports (SFf425s) and assisting with reconciling grant balances.

Position also assists the Grants Supervisor with providing documentation for monitoring reviews and audits.

This positionplays a vital role in assisting the Grants Accounting Manager and Grants Supervisor in ensuring that all responsibilities are successfully executed.

State fiscal year grant revenues range between $115-$750 M.


The Accountant I provides close assistance to the Supervisor with the following: (1) planning, organizing and directing the daily functions of grants; (2) ensuring the Agency's accounting records are properly stated and transactions are processed in accordance with prescribed policies, procedures and regulations; (3) assisting with developing, implementing and monitoring grant accounting policies and procedures which govern the internal controls and processing for the Agency; (4) providing advice, counsel and policy interpretation for division staff throughout the Department; and (5) preparing various financial analyses, reports and studies.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits. The work schedule is Monday -Friday, 8am-5pm. The position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of a State Teleworking Program.

Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy, and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employer's sole discretion.

The salary grade for this position isNC13.
