In this position, you will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of multiple training devices. You will work in a fast-paced, modern agile development environment and collaborate closely with systems, software, and test to build advanced, mission-focused capabilities and features. This position requires an active US security clearance. Most aspects of the job are done in a classified lab environment, and this position requires a daily onsite presence. *This position is located onsite at our Sterling, VA site*. Eligible for relocation.

  • What you will do:*
  • Decompose complex system level requirements to features and groom/prioritize the hardware roadmap to streamline execution of program priorities.
  • Draft and organize capabilities and features to support customer delivery schedules, scope, and cost.
  • Maintain the conceptual and technical integrity of the system capabilities for the team by reviewing and validating hardware features, ensuring they meet the acceptance criteria and definition-of-done.
  • Assist the team in the design, development, integration, and testing of hardware solutions.
  • Drive and influence decisions which impact cost, schedule, and technical performance for the team
  • Work with the team to prepare program increment plans and objectives and be the spokesperson for the team at Program Increment Planning Events, PO Syncs, and End of Sprint Reviews
  • Serve as the teams Cost Account Manager - tracking and reporting Earned Value Management metrics at monthly program reviews.
  • Proactively manage risks and seek opportunities, communicating them to the Business Owners
  • Collaborate with the Release Train Engineer, Product Managers, System Architect, and Value Stream Leaders to contribute to the program vision and roadmaps and setting business value and priority to team backlog.
  • Perform bidding and proposal activities to support the acquisition of new business.
  • Actively mentor and coach junior engineers
  • Job may require travel to customer sites of up to 20%
  • Basic qualifications:*
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must have an active US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at the secret level or higher.
  • Must be able to work onsite daily.
  • Required Qualifications:*
  • Working experience with Agile/Scrum Development Life Cycle
  • Working experience as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Hardware Lead on a hardware development team for 3 or more years.

  • Mechanical Engineering background, to include experience with structural weldment design.
  • Experience with integration of commercial and subcontract designs.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management as a Cost Account Manager
  • High attention to detail, quality, and commitment to excellence.
  • Familiarity working with ALM tools suite (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo).
  • SAFe Scrum Master, PO, or PM certification.
  • Affinity towards the Aerospace and Defense industry.

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
