Data Center Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at Royal Communications Consultants Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center hardware and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Audit and document existing cabling installations to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Compile patching schedules and utilize cable management software to plan and execute efficient patching operations.
  • Power down and disconnect desktop equipment, including peripherals, and perform IMAC-D activities to ensure seamless reconnection.
  • Carry out data wiping activities using software tools and perform various types of patching, including voice and data, copper and fiber.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling, as well as perform copper voice and data terminations as required.
  • Install and test analog, digital, and VOIP telephone handsets and provide headset support as needed.
  • Build, rack, and stack network and server hardware in data center halls and provide connectivity.
  • Perform network hardware break-fix activities, such as replacing power supplies, modules, and fans.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in voice and data cabling environments, including moves, adds, and changes.
  • Thorough understanding and practical experience of fiber and copper voice and data cabling, including terminating, test equipment, test parameters, and test techniques.
  • Knowledge of rack and stack of server hardware and rack and stack systems.
  • Good knowledge of service now and other process and asset management tools.
  • Good knowledge of server patching, LAN/WAN, and active devices.
