The Transmission & Distribution Engineering team at Austin Energy is looking for an engineer to join the Distribution Protection team. Responsibilities include performing coordination studies, programming settings, and working with fault analysis software. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and collaborative engineers who can analyze scenarios, make critical recommendations, and implement changes in an electric utility setting.

  • This position offers competitive compensation:
  • Power System Engineer - ($41.70 to $54.21 per hour)
  • Power System Engineer Sr. - ($47.75 to $62.07 per hour)

This role is designated as critical, supporting operations impacting the city or department. It may require work at an alternative location during emergencies. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid leave, and a retirement plan.

  • Experience with technical guidance
  • Working with medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment
  • Coordinating distribution equipment using fault analysis software
  • Programming recloser controllers or similar controls
  • Experience with switchgears and transfer-switches
