We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our team at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols, and Market Guides.
Key Responsibilities- Perform electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system.
- Implement system modeling, develop tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, and perform system studies.
- Analyze simulated or actual operating results, develop solutions to current or future system issues, and report findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with other departments to select and implement system changes as needed.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role within the electric utility industry.
- Strong knowledge of power system software applications and tools, spreadsheet programs, and database programs.
- Ability to work independently on assignments and projects, as well as participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments, and perform studies.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages: EMS, PowerWorld, PSSE, and PSLF.
