General Function:


Under the general supervision of the Program Collaborations Director, PEWTW Program Coordinator III will facilitate client connection to our low interest auto and e-bike loan program, Portland Electric Ways to Work.

Primary functions include coordination, facilitation and implementation of the MFS Financial Coaching program and PEWTW Program, training and coordination of program volunteers, as well as forming and maintaining effective working relationships in the community, and with other MFS programs.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing clients services under the financial coaching program and providing group based and 1:1 economic empowerment education.

Additionally, the Program Coordinator will provide information to borrowers about electric and hybrid vehicles and e-bikes and support MFS's EV/Hybrid/E-Bikes and climate change education and outreach efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide clients with financial mentoring and education to reach financial goals for long term financial health including: financial goal setting, budgeting and spending plan development, in depth credit education, and credit building strategies
Become certified in Credit as an Asset through Credit Builders Alliance
Provide ongoing outreach and recruitment to individuals who would benefit from the PEWTW Program
Communicate regularly with our lending partner Point West Credit Union, addressing all bank related client account issues
Serve as the primary point of contact for the PEWTW Program, handling program inquiry calls and performing program intake screenings; provide customer service support and assistance to enrolled clients
Check-in with clients regularly to ensure participant success
Develop and sustain relationships with area car dealerships and mechanic shops to ensure a wide range of options are available to our participants as they move toward making purchasing decisions
Recruit and coordinate the volunteer loan committee members in order to maintain a diverse mix of members
Plan and facilitate group economic empowerment classes
Deliver culturally relevant financial coaching to clients
Help clients connect to safe financial products and services and community resources that will support financial stability
Deepen commitment to advocating for electric and hybrid vehicles and e-bike ownership in middle to low income households and continue partnerships with other organizations working on this issue
Support the systems change work to improve the screening and intake process for PEWTW clients
Share information on benefits to electric and hybrid vehicles and e-bikes and rebates to possible PEWTW clients
Share information with MFS leadership and the climate justice team on how the expansion of PEWTW into EVs, Hybrids and E-Bikes is going
Outreach to community partners about benefits of EVs, Hybrids and E-Bikes and loans available through PEWTW
Administer program evaluation tools, maintain participant data in agency database and provide reports to Program Collaborations Director
Attend supervision meetings with Program Collaborations Director
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Fluency and ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English (read, write and speak) is required
Experience with trauma informed approaches to case management
Knowledge/understanding of economic empowerment concepts
Enthusiasm for helping families access tools to avoid financial crisis
Experience working with partners from a variety of fields (such as banks, credit unions and other social service organizations)
Ability to work independently and to collaborate with agency program coordinators
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups
Ability to effectively manage and disseminate confidential and sensitive information
Work effectively within a team-oriented management structure
Knowledge and competency to operate a personal computer

Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of a BA/BS in related field

Financial management, financial literacy education, and/or loan processing experience is beneficial

Other Requirements:
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner.

If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.

MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check.

We review the results of all background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues that arise in a background check during the hiring process.


Work Environment:
This position is based in person. There is some opportunity for remote work with prior supervisor approval. Work is performed in an office environment, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.


This position is currently located at our SE Stark Street office location in Portland and will move to a new office located in Gresham in July, 2024.

Employees must be available to work throughout the Portland Metro area.
