The internship position is for ContiTech Oil & Marine in Houston, TX

We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Analyst Intern to be part of the ContiTech Oil & Marine's Operations Service. The Supply Chain Analyst Intern would be able to assist with planning, coordinating, and reporting all supply chain activities and functions to meet budget and supply chain targets (e.g. maximize delivery performance, reduce cost and inventories). The Supply Chain Analyst Intern would develop understanding of CT Oil & Marine business processes and assist Logistics & Warehouse Manager (SCM Analyst II) in developing action plans for continuous improvement of all supply chain relevant processes.

As a Supply Chain Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for:

Material Planning & Control:

analyze inventory, orders and sales to ensure coordination of demands/demand changes together with Logistics and Warehouse Manager (SCM Analyst II)

develop understanding of regular material planning and production supply control processes (material program planning, production scheduling, production sequencing, production supply control and production review) in close cooperation with production function of CT Oil & Marine according to demand plan, production supply control plan, work instructions and standards

complete some tasks related to material planning and production supply controll processes under supervision of SCM Analyst II and SCM staff

Logistics & Inventory Management:

expand knowledge of supply chain and logistics concepts (e.g. sourcing and delivery concept, requirements regarding flexibility of production setup and machine investments, flow and storage concept into and out of production, material transportation and provision concept) according to warehouse management operations in close cooperation with Logistics and Warehouse Manager (SCM Analyst II) and SCM staff

develop understanding of internal material handling and transportation (internal logistic) for semi-finished goods and finished goods (raw materials are excluded at this location) according to standards and planning

assist Logistics and Warehouse Manager (SCM Analyst II) and SCM staff perform cycle counting, inventory and warehouse management (planning, parameter and process settings) activities, and inventory handling for semi-finished goods and finished goods including assist in receiving and shipping and monitor inventory levels

expand knowledge and execute basic movements in SAP S/4 HANA (ERP system) related to Materials Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), Sales & Distribution (SD), and some QM (Quality Management)

assist inventory control by providing timely readiness notes, take part in ad-hoc duties, as needed to better understand the overall supply chain landscape at Continental

develop understanding of external logistic processes and assist logistics coordinator with follow-ups of delivery to customer (e.g. transport planning, dispatch), freight management, customs clearance and packaging management according to standards

expand knowledge of international logistics, observe examples and gain understanding of incoterms in practice

Monitoring & Reporting:

responsible to create daily, weekly, and adhoc supply chain performance (KPI) monitoring and reporting (e.g. regarding cost, delivery performance, adherence to schedule, lead time, capacity utilization) under supervision of Logistics and Warehouse Manager (SCM Analyst II)

responsible to monitor open purchase orders, following up with suppliers (internal and external), and request escalation when needed

develop understanding of supplier SCM performance monitoring (e.g. delivery reliability to production line of external providers) in close cooperation with CT Oil & Marine purchasing SCM staff

look for improvement opportunities to improve CT Oil & Marine supply chain performance

The Supply Chain Analyst Intern will be able to provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding supply chain processes (e.g. production planning and control, material provision, commissioning, etc.), supply chain equipment (e.g. forklifts, warehouses, AGVs, loading equipment), supply chain IT (e.g. warehouse management tools, production planning and control tools, etc.) to CT Oil & Marine Logistics and Warehouse Manager. At the end of the internship, the intern is expected to provide a presentation on lessons learned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a US accredited degree program pursuing a degree in Supply Chain or similar
  • Able to work on-site for a total of 24 hours, 8 hours/day on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (minimum 20 hours)
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of a 2.8 or higher
  • Minimum sophomore standing or higher
  • Strong experience in Excel
  • Proficient in English is mandatory and have experience in working with international teams as well as understanding of foreign cultures
  • Well organized and ability to work autonomously
  • Legal Authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job opening
  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity

  • Enrolled in school for at least another 12 months and can dedicate 12 months toward this internship
