REMOTE WORK NOT AN OPTION

Throughout an SAIC internship you will develop a variety of soft skills, including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and influencing skills. Internships are great opportunities to speak directly to people who have experience in the role you aspire to; and their knowledge of the job and working environment will give you a greater understanding of what it's all about and what you need to do to progress.

RESONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • General engineering and engineering support work at SAIC to work on munition systems and test systems to support the US Navy in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Preparing meeting notes, documents and providing support to Senior Engineers.
  • Provides technical support, either within the company or in support of customer contracts, on assignments using established procedures.
  • Candidates are primarily engaged in the technical or scientific disciplines through the course of college study. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee).

FREEDOM TO ACT: General supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Considerable knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Supervision Received: General supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.

IMPACT: Errors may be detected and corrected but may cause moderate loss of time or customer/user dissatisfaction.

LIAISON: Contacts are typically with individuals within own department and occasionally with contacts outside own organization. Contacts involved obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: AA Degree in related discipline and one year of related experience; Or, High School and two (2) years of related
experience.

  • Office and engineering tools.
  • CAD tool proficiency a plus.
  • General office software, CAD experience and programming a plus.
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates should have strong written and oral communications abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications and common office software applications is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Considerable knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
