Job Highlights:
Join our team as an Adjudication Specialist at the Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) and play a vital role in ensuring safe and competent patient care. As part of this role, you will provide professional legal support by analyzing investigative reports, preparing cases for prosecution, and presenting cases at hearings.
As an Adjudication Specialist, you will contribute to safeguarding the lives, health, and safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth. A full-time position with DHP also offers the potential for student loan forgiveness through the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate complex data effectively for case preparation and presentation.
- Apply knowledge of legal principles, practices, and processes to support adjudication functions.
- Manage time and assignments efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to ensure clarity in legal proceedings.
- Work closely with witnesses and prepare them effectively for testimony.
- Present cases in judicial or administrative proceedings with confidence and expertise.
- Draft pleadings and memoranda based on thorough legal analysis and factual reports.
Desired Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment.
- Familiarity with the Administrative Process Act.
- Understanding of laws and regulations governing health regulatory boards.
- Prior experience in prosecution.
