Our client is seeking a Client Director (Business Development) to join a water/wastewater team in their Northern California offices of San Jose or Walnut Creek.

The Director will be responsible for leading State and Local Government and Water business with clients in Northern California.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to develop client and pursuit strategies, relationship management, leading business development activities, overall business financial management, contract management, and ensuring client satisfaction.

You will be accountable for meeting new business and earnings financial goals; development of strong relationships with clients, teaming partners and contractors; driving business development; and selling our full suite of services.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare and implement Client Development Plans for clients.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients, business partners, and competitors.
Develop client and pursuit strategies.

Lead or support proposal development, and make Go / No Go decisions or recommendations and assist with preparation of Proposal Review Board documents.

Provide leadership to project and pursuit teamsMeet new business and earnings financial goalsManage assigned business development budgetManage contracts and legal issuesManage and mitigate risksIdentify key client interests and drivers on projects and pursuits and communicate with team members.

Leverage professional networking skills to help identify and pursue opportunities.
Supervise and mentor project team members - acts as a project manager including management of a project team.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Management or a related fieldPrefer 10+ years professional experience managing a multi-disciplinary team to deliver new business for water and wastewater utility and state and local government projects.

Previous consulting experienceProficiency with computer software, including MS Office Suite and Project SoftwareExperience preparing proposals; negotiating and managing contracts; managing project budgets, costs and accounts receivables.

Experience with planning, delegation, directing others and conflict management.
Experience dealing with ambiguity and building effective teams.

Client Focus:
Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on complex projects.

Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on complex projects.
