The Senior Vice President, Operations, oversees a broad-based team from multiple departments that comprise the organization's Customer Service (CSC), Claims, Claims Support and Business Process Improvement Areas.

As a corporate officer, this position assists in setting corporate strategy, administers enterprise governance processes, leads strategic initiatives, and sets corporate policies and procedures.

This position is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of departmental strategic and operational business plans that support corporate goals.

What You'll Do


Provide strategic leadership for assigned departments to ensure efficiency and effective processes that support both short-term and long-term goals and objectives.

Actively participate in overall business and strategic planning, bringing a current knowledge base and future vision of operations, as related to the organization's competitive position, as well as operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Perform ongoing assessment of key operation objectives and adjust, as needed, operational activity to create an environment of continuous improvement, automation of manual processes and delivering on service levels.

Develop, mentor, and guide leadership teams to build and maintain a high-performance culture, develop an executable succession plan, and eliminate single points of knowledge.

Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and cross-functional leadership to develop and execute plans within the assigned department and throughout the organization in pursuit of company mission and objectives.

Lead in an ethical manner through modeling BCBSNE's mission, core values and code of conduct principles.

Ensure all employees are demonstrating BCBSNE's mission, core values and code of conduct principles as well as take appropriate steps when unethical actions are reported or observed.

To Be Considered For This Position, You Must Have


Bachelor's degree is preferred in business administration or other related degree and 12+ years' experience overseeing an operations function at a similar type company.

The ability to drive results, not only for operational areas but for the entire company as part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

Should possess strategic thinking skills, superior problem-solving abilities, planning, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize work schedule and meet deadlines, and effectively delegate responsibilities and work assignments.
Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.

The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

The Strongest Candidates For This Position Will Also Possess

Experience and/or certification with process improvement methodologies are a plus.
