D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Construction Area Manager. The right candidate will supervise a group of General Superintendents, Superintendents and/or Project Managers assigned to communities in a designated area regarding construction field-related activities.Implement all company policies and procedures throughout the entire construction process.Update reports and ensure quality control in the houses built.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Plan and direct construction activities in the field either directly or through utilizing Project Managers and Superintendents
  • Set build times on each plan and provide schedules to meet the build times
  • Maintain responsibility for the profitability of the homes being built in assigned subdivisions and manage all cost by reviewing field purchase orders
  • Maintain total involvement with training, communication and development of Project Managers, Superintendents and field personnel
  • Oversee field operations, production times and ensure quality control so the homes built meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientations/occupancy
  • Ensure assigned subdivisions meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
  • Ensure all homes in construction area are constructed to contract, specification and detail
  • Ensure all work invoiced is fully acceptable to company specifications and is 100% complete
  • Visit job sites periodically to spot check quality and policy enforcement
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Interface with public agencies in obtaining all necessary permits and approvals; or work with the Permit Department in obtaining permits and approvals
  • Interface with all municipal governing bodies, public utilities and industry associations; or work with the Land Development Department in obtaining objectives
  • Handle escalated problems with subcontractors
  • Respond to unsatisfactory survey cards and NRS responses
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Regular and reliable attendance
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises 2 or more employees
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

1.High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

2.Seven years of related experience and/or training

3.Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license

4.High degree of construction knowledge and management skill

5.Ability to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule

6.General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes

7.Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnel

8.Superb interpersonal, verbal and written communication skill

9.Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction

10.Ability to control cost overruns and manage a budget

11.Ability to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptop

12.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH application

13.Proficiency with MS Office and email

14.Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision

15.Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock

16. Noise level is generally loud.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred

2.Work effectively in a high pressure and high production environment

3. English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
