Step into a role with an award-winning full service continuing care retirement community (CCRC) where you are accountable for the administrative, financial, risk management operations. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will develop the financial and operational strategy to preserve community assets and report accurate financial results.

Essential Functions:

Qualifications

Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in accounting required; master's degree in business, finance or accounting preferred.

  1. Five or more years of experience in finance or accounting position in the senior living industry is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  3. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  4. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  5. Knowledge of federal and state financial and insurance regulations, including Medicare.

Planning

Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.

  1. Develop financial and tax strategies.
  2. Manage Corporate Expense and Capital Budget Development and assist Directors in the development of their yearly departmental budget.

Operations

  1. Performs all operation accounting functions such as: billing and collections, GL entries, process payroll according to company set schedule, account reconciliations, and bank account reconciliations.
  2. Conducts Payroll Based Journaling (PBJ).
  3. Facilitates audit reporting and processes.
  4. Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
  5. Provide consultative support to Department Directors and Managers by providing financial support of organization and department planning initiatives.
  6. Prepare IRS 1099 forms.
  7. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.

Financial Information

  1. Ensure financial recording and reporting system is maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  2. Oversee the timely issuance of financial information and report financial results to the Board of Directors.
  3. Timely develop and file all government financial filings (Cost Reports, DOA Submissions, Tax Returns, etc.)

Risk Management

  1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile.
  2. Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
  3. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
  4. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to finances.
  5. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  6. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the Board of Directors.
  7. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.

Funding

  1. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
  2. In collaboration with the Executive Director arrange for debt and equity financing.
  3. Invest corporate funds as appropriate using Board approved policy.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions: Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day.
Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift to twenty (20) pounds frequently.
