Reports to: Manager Brigaide Mobile Outreach

Job Functions:

  • AmeriCorps BrigAIDe Mobile Outreach Members will establish connections with individuals experiencing homelessness, offer support and resources, and facilitate access to services and housing. This program, akin to the Peace Corps but on a local level, entails direct community service activities for a year.
  • Participants will develop expertise in crisis intervention, outreach, advocacy, trauma-informed practices, case management, customer service, data collection, resource development, program planning, and partnership coordination.

Days/Hours: Full-time position (40 hours/week) with varied shifts, including weekends. Minimum service requirement of 1700 hours annually.

Base Location: Tampa, FL

Member Duties:

  • Visit communities to connect with individuals facing homelessness.
  • Assess needs and provide information on available resources.
  • Distribute essential supplies and assist with benefit applications.
  • Collaborate with community agencies for service coordination.
  • Complete data entry and maintain client records.
  • Engage in training and implement best practices in street outreach.

Benefits:

*Education award applicable for qualified student loans or educational expenses.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of poverty and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental approach.
  • Bi-lingual skills preferred.
  • Valid transportation and U.S. citizenship/legal residency required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Engage in street outreach and mobility up to 8 hours daily.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. frequently.
