ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assess and suggest improvements to enhance accounting efficiency
  • Offer guidance on accounting policies to department heads
  • Manage the production of financial reports and oversee grant programs
  • Prepare budget reports and maintain special funds accounts
  • Conduct accounting studies and prepare financial statements
  • Supervise accounting division when necessary
  • Attend work consistently

Depending on area of assignment:

  • Ensure grant compliance and provide department training

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet education, experience, and skill requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, or related field; with 4 years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses

None.

Certifications

Certified Public Accountant preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, with application to various transactions
  • Familiarity with financial regulations governing municipal government operations
  • Knowledge of modern business management and EDP methods
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement accounting procedures
  • Strong analytical and supervisory skills

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Certain physical abilities and environmental tolerance are necessary for this role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position may require extended periods of sitting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Occasional need to work outside regular hours or attend meetings.
