Position Summary:

Job SummaryThe Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as a strategic leader and trusted advisor driving innovative and inclusive human resources initiatives that align with the mission and strategic goals of the university. The CHRO provides visionary leadership and expertise across the full spectrum of Human Resource functions, including talent management, total rewards, employee relations, compliance, workforce analytics, training and development, performance management, and payroll. This role also oversees Title IX compliance and plays a pivotal role in fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment, enabling all employees to contribute to their full potential. This position is defined as an exempt position under FLSA regulations.

Specific Responsibilities· Strategic Partner and Advisor: Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to university leaders, offering insights and guidance on human resource matters. Collaborate with leaders to align HR strategies with the broader mission and goals of the institution.· Inclusive HR Strategies: design and execute human resources strategies that support diversity, access, equity and belonging in the workplace. Create programs, policies and training to cultivate a culture that values and respects individual differences. · Talent Acquisition: Oversee the recruitment process for faculty and staff, ensuring a diverse pool of candidates and employing strategies to attract and retain a talented workforce.· Student Employment: Oversee all aspects of the student employment process with the express goal of helping to meet the labor needs of the campus community while providing a meaningful experience for students to help prepare them for a successful transition to life, work and a career after graduation.· Employee Relations: lead efforts to create a positive and inclusive environment handling employee relations and conflict resolution with a focus on fairness, equity, and open communication.· Total Rewards Management: oversee a comprehensive total rewards program encompassing competitive compensation and benefits. This includes professional development, recognition, and wellness programs. Provide support for the Vice President for Operations in developing and managing executive compensation in accordance with IRS regulations.· Administrative Leadership Team: lead the Administrative Leadership Team meetings, strategically utilizing these gatherings as platforms for targeted training, constructive feedback solicitation, and vital information sharing. Through these sessions, foster a collaborative and growth-oriented atmosphere, ensuring that leadership within the university is continually refined and aligned with institutional objectives.· Policy Development and Compliance Oversight: Champion the development of Human Resource policies and procedures that not only comply with relevant laws and regulations but also reflect a commitment to access, equity and belonging. Take the lead in overseeing the University Policy Management Group, ensuring that policies are designed to mitigate systemic bias and foster a diverse, fair, and inclusive work environment. Stay attuned to evolving best practices to continually enhance policies in alignment with institutional strategies.· Title IX: oversee Title IX compliance, ensuring adherence to federal regulations and fostering a safe, inclusive environment for all members of our university community,· Workforce Metrics: Analyze workforce metrics to recognize success and drive performance improvement. Set and implement Human Resources goals to ensure HR strategies align with the institutional strategic plan. Design workforce dashboard(s) to share with senior leaders on a regular basis to help inform strategic human capital decisions.· Performance Management: champion a culture of continuous performance improvement through ongoing, meaningful conversations. Develop and implement a performance management system that emphasizes regular check-ins and constructive feedback, fostering a dynamic feedback loop between faculty, staff, and their supervisors. Lead initiatives to train and support leaders in conducting effective performance conversations, ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed to inspire growth and development of faculty and staff.· Community Engagement: Initiate and lead efforts to build a strong sense of community within the university. Organize events, forums and activities that encourage collaboration and create opportunities for faculty and staff to provide feedback on workplace practices, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.

Required Qualifications:

EducationBachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
ExperienceSeven years of progressive Human Resources experience required. Experience with Title IX compliance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to provide strategic direction and leadership in aligning HR functions with institutional goals and mission; Expertise in developing and implementing initiatives that promote diversity, access, equity, and belonging throughout the university; Ability to foster positive employee relations and handle conflict resolution with a focus on fairness, equity, and open communication; Skilled at designing and managing comprehensive total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, professional development, and wellness initiatives; Knowledge and experience in developing HR policies and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, with a commitment to addressing systemic bias; Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Must have the ability to work independently and to set priorities; but also advocates team concepts and functions as a team member as needed. Uses technology effectively. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applies analytical skills and principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete situations where limited standardization exists. Additional RequirementsSociety for Human Resources Management (SHRM) certification with Workplace Investigation Specialty credential required within the first year of employment.
This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures and is classified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements.Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
