The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is seeking a Regional Innovation Officer who will be responsible for establishing and operating federally funded technology commercialization programs such as Economic Development Authority Tech Hubs or National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines. The Regional Innovation Officer is tasked with establishing educational, governmental, and commercial partnerships to attract and coordinate regional innovation and individual partner expertise in a particular range of technology areas. The Regional Innovation Officer will help manage and grow the university’s research enterprise and work closely with the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, faculty, and staff to promote the continued growth of technological opportunities across the state of Vermont. The position will assume leadership of the current Vermont Gallium Nitride Tech Hub project at UVM. This project is promoting the development of a semiconductor design ecosystem in the Greater Burlington Area and across Vermont. The project includes the creation of workforce development programs, the buildout of core facilities, and the establishment of corporate partnerships in the semiconductor industry. The position involves grant writing skills and experiences related to industrial manufacturing and its interface with university research and development functions.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

BS Degree in Engineering or Applied ScienceMBA or Law degree preferred10+ years of technology industry experienceExperience in running a grant funded non-profit or University Center preferred
