Position Summary:
The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (beginning September 2024) for individuals with a particular interest in teaching courses in the following areas: criminal law and/or policing. Ability to teach courses on campus and online (asynchronous) is desirable (the Criminal Justice Department offers both an on campus and online CJ Major). The ability to teach courses involving historically marginalized members of society as it relates to criminal justice is also desirable. The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda, perform university, college, department, community, and professional service.

Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in criminal law and/or policing as well as develop and teach upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Demonstrate excellent undergraduate teaching and advising skills, set up an active research agenda, and participate in governance of the department, college, and university.
Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the Ph.D. is conferred by the start of the appointment.
Background or experience necessary to teach lower-division and upper-division undergraduate courses in criminal law and/or policing.
Established record of publication in scholarly journals related to their specialization or demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of scholarly publications in the area of criminal law and/or policing.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Criminology or Criminal Justice.
Teaching experience as the lead instructor at the university level, especially involving teaching courses in criminal law and/or policing in relation to historically marginalized members of society as it relates to criminal justice.
Experience mentoring and/or advising undergraduate students.
Research experience with potential to establish a successful research program involving undergraduate students.
