Role Overview 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will: 

Lead our fundraising program by setting and implementing data-driven strategies and setting vision and strategies for donor events;  Build and support meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to raise the funds we need to expand our impact and create lasting change in the community; and   Manage one direct report and additional consultancy support. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Fundraising Leadership: You will enhance and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy across corporate, foundation, and individual giving to support GSH. You will articulate ambitious philanthropic goals and implement innovative approaches to drive sustainable revenue growth.  

Relationship Building and Stewardship: You will engage with individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure major gifts and cultivate long-term partnerships through meetings, creative reports and public-facing documents, as well as community and donor engagement event design and execution. You will enhance donor engagement and giving through moves management and strategic stewardship with donors.  

Collaborative Partnership: You will work closely with organizational leaders, board members, and others to foster a culture of philanthropy and engage key influencers in the fundraising process. Your ability to mobilize support and forge strategic alliances will be key to advancing GSH's mission. 

Leadership and Mentorship: You will serve on the leadership team and provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the development team and volunteer fundraisers. Your leadership and vision will inspire excellence and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the organization and in our external donor engagement opportunities (including special and annual events). You will manage one direct report and supplemental consultant support for key workstreams (including event management).

We're seeking a dynamic leader who is passionate about affordable housing and resident services and has a winning track record in frontline fundraising. The ideal candidate will:  

Have a strong record of building funder and donor relationships and have a deep understanding of philanthropic best practices;   Be a visionary strategist with excellent communication skills; and  Have experience managing staff and/or consultants.

What We Offer  

Competitive Salary: The salary for this position is $110,000. At GSH, we strive to pay our employees generously and equitably. This salary has been benchmarked above the 75th percentile for organizations in our region with similar budget sizes. To ensure equity in this hiring process, there will be no negotiation on salary.   Comprehensive healthcare coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance: Our medical insurance plans are customizable to individual needs and include options for different coverage tiers and age groups. Additionally, employees who choose an HSA medical plan receive a monthly contribution of $166.67 to their health savings account. Our dental and vision insurance plans offer similar flexibility, with coverage options available for employee-only, employee + spouse, and family needs. Furthermore, we offer Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health and dependent care expenses, enabling employees to save on eligible costs while maintaining flexibility in their healthcare spending.  Long-term Rewards: We offer a 403b retirement plan with an employer match of up to 3%, helping employees save for their future financial security.  Paid time off & Holidays: Employees enjoy a generous PTO policy, starting with 15 days in the first year and increasing to 20 days after 2 years and 25 days after 5 years of service. Employees receive 10 days of sick leave per year to support their health and well-being. Additionally, we observe 10 holidays per year, including the day after Thanksgiving, providing a total of 11 paid holidays annually.  Hybrid Work Environment: Opportunity to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.   Learning Reimbursements: We believe in investing in the growth and development of our employees. Therefore, we offer opportunities for continuing education through training programs and tuition reimbursement of up to $1300 per year.
