As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Plan, organize, research, write, edit, and distribute communication products for internal and external stakeholders which convey agency actions and processes accurately in an easily understandable manner. Effectively distills regulatory, biological and legal information for the intended audience. Respond, in oral and written form, to requests for information from the public, media, and other key stakeholders.
Collaborate with NOAA Fisheries Regional Office Communication colleagues and regional staff to develop written and visual communication products for dissemination through print and electronic media. Collaborate with other team members, technical and/or scientific staff to obtain their input, and researches and compiles information as required. Build effective partnerships by participating in and providing representation on internal and external working groups and committees.
Determine the nature of the information required and assembles the material using the appropriate format and style. Update web pages under communications purview for the region. Accurately interpret technical material for a variety of audiences. Review communication products produced by subject matter experts for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with NOAA Fisheries policies and style guides.
Develop written communication materials that convey information concerning a range of subjects related to the organization's programs. Analyze programs in order to identify the characteristics of target audiences and determine the most effective communication techniques to use. Writes, edits, and reviews material to appear in publications, reports, periodicals, brochures, speeches, social media, and audio-visual productions.
