Position Overview:

The role of the Broadcast Systems Specialist is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of our broadcasting facilities. This position reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer and is classified as non-exempt.

Compensation: Starting salary is $85,000, with adjustments based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the operational integrity of broadcasting stations and satellite news networks.
  • Oversee both inside and outside plant maintenance and supervision.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement technical policies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct contingency planning to maintain system functionality during unforeseen circumstances.
  • Design, maintain, and operate television and radio transmission facilities, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Manage facility interconnections, including signal routing and restoration systems.
  • Perform routine evaluations and maintenance on broadcast systems.
  • Assist in configuring the operational environment and systems as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Provide engineering support to external organizations as needed.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years of experience in a complex broadcast environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer networking, or a related technical field.
  • Possession of an FCC General Radio Telephone License or equivalent certification.
  • Preferred certifications include SBE Certification.
  • Proficiency in IT networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with digital satellite systems and high power RF maintenance is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with broadcast automation systems is preferred.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex digital and analog systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of office software and custom applications.
