Job Description

Wentworth’s engagement and annual giving team seeks to build an inclusive and connected community, providing opportunities for alumni, families, friends, and faculty/staff of Wentworth to connect with the university and each other and to inspire and grow philanthropic contributions to the university.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving (EDARAG), you are a liaison between the alumni community and the university, and are responsible for cultivating high-level relationships, engagement opportunities and events.

Essential Functions:

Liaison between Academic Affairs, Student Engagement, Athletics, and other campus partners to coordinate strategic and inclusive alumni engagement opportunities

In collaboration with EDARAG, MarCom, University Events and Advancement Services colleagues, create and implement policies and procedures for alumni engagement and events
Partner with campus colleagues to execute a strategic and goal driven event service for student clubs and organizations, as well as Academic partners, to engage alumni in mutually beneficial ways
Alongside the EDLDE, work with the Wentworth Alumni Association (WAA) Board of Directors and other alumni groups

Work closely with alumni groups and partners across the University to develop opportunities for alumni to interact with each other and to engage both socially and intellectually throughout the University
Attend meetings and provide guidance and leadership to alumni groups
Build and manage alumni volunteer structure and opportunities

Create and manage robust alumni volunteer organization over the next two fiscal years with the goal of providing a magnitude of opportunities, including mentorship, Admissions ambassadors, regional ambassadors and affinity-based opportunities
Recruit, train and manage volunteers
In coordination with EDLDE and University Events, oversee, plan and implement on campus and Boston-area alumni and constituent events, both in person and virtually that strengthen alumni relationships with students, faculty and staff

Serve as a liaison between Wentworth and alumni to deepen connection to the university and build effective lines of communications.
In coordination with EDARAG and University Events team, oversee, plan and implement Boston-area alumni events and programs as assigned, both in-person and virtually, that strengthen alumni relationships with students, faculty and staff
Assist with the coordination, planning, and execution of programs and events related to alumni engagement, including marque events: Alumni Day, Fall Family Outing and Apple Picking, and summer Red Sox event
Increase the university’s reach by strengthening alumni engagement program offerings
Assist in developing strategies to engage new members of the alumni community
Remain visible and connected to alumni through one-on-one meetings, attendance at events featuring or honoring alumni, and through general community engagement
In addition, you will provide timely progress updates and advise adjustments to your work and take initiative to stay informed of engagement trends, actively participating in alumni and constituent engagement networking groups and bringing ideas to inform Wentworth’s strategy.

Requirements:

Bachler’s degree required
Minimum 4-5 years of professional work experience
5+ years of experience in development or related field preferred; experience working in higher education setting. Familiarity with Slate Advancement or similar databases. Comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Strong communication skills and proofing proficiency required.
High levels of professionalism, integrity, collegiality, self-motivation and organization.
Commitment to optimizing digital technology and social media to sustain and grow student and alumni engagement.
A genuine interest in the mission of Wentworth and its priorities, and the ability to articulate it with conviction to a wide range of audiences.
Proven ability to manage projects.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
Self-initiative, personal tact, creative talent, ability to work as part of a team, and the highest ethical standards required to motivate volunteers.
Must be a professional, confidential, honest and trustworthy person. Must have an even disposition and be able to deal effectively and politely with people from all types of backgrounds and experiences and in all types of difficult situations. Must be able to listen carefully.
Occasional evening and weekend event attendance is required for alumni and donor events, as well as Commencement and others as assigned.
