Position Description

Provides individual, family, and group counseling services to patients to address various mental health and wellness-related issues. Conducts assessments and helps patients to problem-solve areas of need. Helps to develop coping strategies and action-based goals and objectives for patients. May specialize in a particular area of counseling.

Major/Essential Functions

The Texas Tech Physicians Family Medicine Clinic is committed to providing high quality medical care for individuals of all ages. We are dedicated to providing an excellent training environment for Family Medicine Physicians of today and the future. Our clinic is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where the patient always comes first.

This position in Family Medicine is for PRN shift work with family friendly hours. Family Medicine is looking for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to work with patients and perform the tasks listed below:
  • Counduct psychological diagnostic evaluations for common mental health conditions including:
    • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder
    • Learning disabilites
  • Use advanced mental health diagnostic tools including IQ tests, Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluation tools, and test for executive functioning.
  • Provide evidence-based counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Provide counseling services both in-person and via telehealth.


Required Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.

Experience: 3 years of related experience.

Licenses/Certificates (one of the following): Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC - A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) must be working towards LCSW, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-A), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)

Preferred Qualifications

1 or 1+ years of experience in providing child/adolescent counseling services.
1 or 1+ years of experience in providing adult counseling services.
1 or 1+ years of experience in conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations for mental health concerns.
