Job Summary

StarCare Specialty Health System is seeking a qualified Forensic Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the Lubbock County Detention Center. As a Forensic Mental Health Specialist, you will provide education and skill-building groups for women incarcerated in the detention center, as well as individual counseling and crisis intervention services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational and skill-building groups for women incarcerated in the Lubbock County Detention Center, including topics such as medication education, dual diagnosis, conflict resolution, anger management, and expressive arts and writing.
  • Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Collaborate with LPDO and StarCare Outpatient Services in reentry planning.
  • Serve as a consultant with all jail mental health staff.
  • Coordinate with Psychiatrist, PNA Staff, jail staff, and other appropriate staff at StarCare.
  • Assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall reentry goals and treatment plans for all assigned individuals.
  • Facilitate a collaborative biweekly treatment team meeting for identified individuals needing medication management.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in a Human Services Field, (Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, etc.), AND two (2) years of full-time experience in a related field, required.
  • Pursuing a Master's Degree in a Human Service related field, preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC-Associate), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-Associate), Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and One (1) year of full-time experience in a related field, preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
