The Rockford IceHogs Coordinator, Digital Content and Community Relations is a position based in Rockford, Illinois, that operates within the Rockford IceHogs and the Chicago Blackhawks Marketing and Community Relations Departments. The position is responsible for the generation of social media and other digital content for the Rockford IceHogs, including traditional and unique content and story ideas surrounding the team and players, and generating organic digital content that complements paid marketing efforts. You will be responsible for helping lead the social media and digital content strategy in Rockford, as well as assisting with community relations duties, including facilitating donation requests and appearances in the community. This position works in conjunction with and reports to the Manager of Marketing, Digital Content and Community Relations in Rockford. 

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Create, edit and publish content for the IceHogs digital channels, including website, app, and all social media platforms.
  • Work in conjunction with Manager of Marketing, Digital Content, and Community Relations to develop and execute a comprehensive organic social media content strategy.
  • Lead strategic planning committee for digital content and social media.
  • Manage content calendar for all social media content and channels.
  • Track and analyze social media performance in collaboration with Chicago Blackhawks, and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Work with Ticketing, Partnerships, Community, Youth Hockey, Retail and other verticals to develop unique campaigns and promotions.
  • Primary point of contact for donation requests and community appearances. 

Player Stats and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications 
  • 2-3 years experience managing professional social media/digital content for an organization (experience in sports a plus, but not required).
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Interpersonal skills –listens to others, works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Can prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
  • Must be capable of handling multiple projects. 
  • Adaptability – adapts to change in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes.
  • Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager’s instructions.
  • Creative thinking and ability to work with a sense of urgency is required.
  • Ability to work extended hours around the team game schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Strong social media sense and knowledge. 
  • Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs, Adobe products, including but not limited to Premiere and Photoshop, along with Zoom; be on the cutting edge of emerging technologies that support the Communications field.Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated aptitude for driving results
  • High attention to detail

The Team:

The Rockford IceHogs, founded in 1999 and members of the American Hockey League (AHL), is a premier organization and primary development affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Located in Rockford, IL, the Team calls the newly renovated BMO Center its home. 

As the longest running professional sports team in Rockford, the organization has developed a passionate local fan base and has set multiple attendance records over the years, while establishing a strong a community presence.
