Mount Eden, United States Eikon Therapeutics Full time
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Internal candidate preferred.

Position

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Senior Director of Oncology and Immunology Therapeutic Biology to lead and shape transformative projects that harness the synergy between biology and technology. In this pivotal role, you will drive therapeutic biology drug discovery across oncology and immunology, lead cross-functional collaborations, and guide the development of innovative solutions by transforming our research approach from traditional target nomination to a novel, data-centric method using in-house findings. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of technology with experimental research to advance or therapeutic pipeline, making substantial contributions to our mission.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role is a leader with extensive experience in oncology and immunology drug discovery. With a proven track record of leadership and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, you are proactive, adaptable, and responsive to evolving research priorities and challenges.

What You'll Do
Lead a group of biologists focused on target identification and drug discovery efforts from screening to candidate nomination. Provide strategic leadership in designing and executing complex experiments at the intersection of biology and technology. Guide the strategy in building out a disease, target and therapeutic pipeline and lead team biologists investigating disease biology within oncology and immunology. Develop and optimize sophisticated experimental protocols, assays, and platforms to push the boundaries of research capabilities in oncology and immunology. Lead and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative scientific environment, and mentoring and developing others within the team. Drive the translation of scientific target discoveries into actionable insights, driving our programs towards the clinic while collaborating closely with chemistry, non-clinical sciences and quantitative biology teams. Shape and drive research strategies, oversee project execution, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Mentor and develop researchers at all levels, fostering a collaborative and innovative scientific environment. Stay current with scientific advancements and industry trends, integrating relevant knowledge into research strategies. Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders, and drive publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. Prepare comprehensive and precise documentation of research findings, contributing to internal reports, presentations, and potential intellectual property.
Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to collaborate across the organization while still being decisive and able to drive the research plan, strategy, and execution to deliver results aligned with the company's objectives. Able to build, lead and inspire teams. Exceptional team player attitude and values-based leader who demonstrates the highest level of integrity, authenticity and transparency.
