Laboratory Operations Associate

Dyne Therapeutics is a clinical-stage muscle disease company focused on advancing innovative life-transforming therapeutics for people living with genetically driven diseases. With its proprietary FORCE™ platform, Dyne is developing modern oligonucleotide therapeutics that are designed to overcome limitations in delivery to muscle tissue. Dyne has a broad pipeline for serious muscle diseases, including clinical programs for myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and a preclinical program for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
Role Summary:
The Laboratory Operations Associate helps oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory and interfaces closely with the facilities group. This role performs lab services, maintenance, dock services, and assists in performing corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks such as moving equipment/materials and stock/inventory maintenance. This role works cross functionally with all departments to ensure the laboratory is operating smoothly and in compliance with all health and safety standards. This role provides operational support by focusing on managing consumable inventory, procurement, inbound/outbound freight, and vendor management. The person in this role brings an understanding of building design/layout, MEP operations, lab operations, and a general knowledge of health and safety regulations. The person in this role participates in process improvement efforts and makes recommendations to promote efficiencies and applies a proactive approach to potential operational/environmental hazards/risks.
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Manages laboratory consumables, procurement and organization Conducts daily rounds, safety inspections, and document equipment readings Maintains all pressurized gases, tank changes and procurement Responsible for critical laboratory equipment remote alarm monitoring system Performs general maintenance tasks: moving materials or equipment, hanging signage and minor repairs Responsible for shipping, receipt and distribution of packages and equipment including temperature sensitive materials Supports disposal of biohazardous material, chemical waste, sharps, and other potentially hazardous materials according to regulations Routinely interacts with facilities, laboratory personnel, and EHS consultants Participates in management of all laboratory assets Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, and corporate policies/procedures related to the building operations and EHS standards Maintains electronic and/or paper record keeping Escorts vendors and contractors Responds to laboratory corrective/reactive work orders according to procedures Participate in process improvements and make recommendations to promote facility and lab operations efficienciesEducation and Skills Requirements:
Minimum of an associate’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a clinical-stage biotechnology company Intuitive mechanical ability to problem solve and generate successful conclusions for the laboratory environment Self-starter demonstrating initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in an independent and organized manner Understanding and implementation of various lab environments and safety levels Proven ability to be highly productive in a fast-paced work environment with excellent attention to detail Ability to respond to common inquiries from co-workers, and/or supervisor Adaptive, highly collaborative individual with a strong passion for learning who will thrive in a fast paced and service facing role Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; must be able to manage time and priorities efficiently Capable of clear and timely communication Ability to maintain a constructive working relationship with all staff, vendors, and co-workers Able to handle multiple projects while demonstrating task completion, documentation and communication Experience with lab equipment management and maintenance Prioritization of environmental health and safety for all users Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more if required DOT, IATA, RCRA and/or waste water Level 1 certifications preferred Ability to work off hours, weekends, holidays as needed
