About the College of Allied Health Sciences

The College of Allied Health Sciences educates and prepares future allied health and other health science professionals to provide high quality service in their respective fields. In conjunction with community-based partners, students achieve clinical skills and learn the values of critical thinking, good communication, teamwork, cultural competence, and service learning. The college's faculty is committed to excellence in research, teaching, service, and leadership. The College of Allied Health Sciences consists of four academic units including: Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences; Department of Clinical Health and Information Sciences; and the School of Social Work.

Job Overview

The Associate Dean for Community Partnerships and Impact in the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) will be

responsible

for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and initiatives to foster community engagement, partnerships and projects which will positively impact our stakeholders including students, future students, alumni, clinical and community partners. This position will play a critical role in facilitating meaningful collaborations, internally and externally, to create a more engaged, dynamic, and impactful education environment.

This position will report directly to the Dean of CAHS.

Essential Functions

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Responsible for delivering 4-6 workload units of teaching* or research each academic year.
2. Faculty/Staff Development & Training
• Provide training, resources and professional development opportunities to the college community to enhance belonging, impact, and support in courses and college activities
• Serve as the EO coordinator with corresponding responsibilities to broaden the college’s recruitment and retention of faculty and staff
• Provide leadership on college committees and task forces to integrate and align strategic initiatives with the college’s strategic vision
• Budget and manage available resources to achieve respective college goals
3. College Impact Activities
• Lead processes, efforts, programming and training to embed values of inclusion and belonging
• Engage and support faculty, staff, and students to resolve complex issues
• Collaborate and partner with the CAHS Office of Student Affairs for student recruitment, engagement and retention
• Develop assessment strategy to analyze data for use in long-range planning and strategy of college impact priorities
• Conduct regular assessments of college practices and policies to identify and reduce barriers to success
4. Community Partnerships and Impact
• Engage with external community partners and support faculty, staff and students in community outreach and partnership efforts
• Identify and cultivate community partnerships related to education, access, research, and service priorities of the college
• Serve as a liaison between the college and community stakeholders to promote communication and collaboration
• Foster alumni partnerships in collaboration with alumni staff to increase and expand engagement, mentoring, and networking opportunities for students
• Create and oversee a college student leadership program; advise leadership organization(s)
• Facilitate impact-related grants submissions and award nominations for the college, Academic Health Center, and university
5. College Representative
• Serve as a member of the college’s Administrative Council
• Represent the college on university committees appropriate to the role
• Collaborate with the UC Office of Equity, Inclusion and Community Impact
• Manage specific projects as assigned by the Dean
6. Other Duties
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Dean.

*Candidates will need to meet HLC Teaching Guidelines.

Required Education

• PhD or terminal degree

Required Experience

• Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels (recent teaching evaluations will be required)
• Experience in working with community stakeholders and groups
• Experience in curriculum development and assessment
• 3-5 years of ongoing leadership experience including leadership of key projects and initiatives; goal setting and implementation; assessment and improvement
• Proven record of achieving impact related goals and outcomes
• Strong background in advising and mentoring students
• Evidence of strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, execution, assessment, improvement, and team building
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence and fostering a positive team and classroom culture

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Terminal degree in one of the CAHS disciplines and eligible for rank of Associate Professor or Professor
• 3 years of previous experience as a supervisor
