Senior Portfolio & Planning Manager

Are you an outstanding Portfolio & Planning Manager who is looking to join a team at the heart of Expedia's business? The Traveler and Service Platform (TPSP) organization is the customer service department of Expedia, providing customer care to our B2C and B2B customers. Our philosophy is to deliver the best service experience in travel for our travelers and partners using our service platform.

The Portfolio & Programs team has the dual roles of managing TPSP’s portfolio of projects/initiatives to achieve the strategic aims of the department and the wider Expedia Group. The team also provides Program Management services for the department, tackling the largest most complex cross-functional initiatives.

As the Senior Portfolio & Planning Manager, you will play a pivotal role supporting TPSP as well as the broader Expedia Group. You will facilitate the development of the department by bringing exceptional organizational skills, stakeholder management, commercial acumen, and leadership skills. Using these skills, you will manage TPSP’s Portfolio Management process ensuring that throughout the year our people are always focused on the highest impact work. This role is unique and inherently cross-functional - you will collaborate across multiple teams to envision and deliver solutions.

What you’ll do:

  1. Lead & facilitate TPSP’s quarterly planning cycles, coordinating with leadership and central planning structures.
  2. Continuously develop the TPSP Portfolio Management processes and mechanisms to drive engagement and efficiency.
  3. Develop and own intake protocols to provide leadership with a clear view of new asks and their impact.
  4. Develop and own launch protocols to provide TPSP Operational leadership a clear view of upcoming launches.
  5. Build relationships across departments to operate effectively within the organization's formal and informal structures.
  6. Work across team boundaries with multiple portfolio & planning managers to prioritize work.
  7. Identify and drive resolution on cross-team issues, scope changes, resource constraints, and other impediments.
  8. Build knowledge about our operations, products, capabilities, and future needs.

Who you are:

Experienced Portfolio & Planning Manager:

  1. Significant experience as Portfolio Manager for large complex organizations.
  2. Exceptionally well organized and customer focused.
  3. Experience owning or influencing strategy & vision, roadmaps, and backlog prioritization.
  4. Proven ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas.

Leadership / Interpersonal / Communication:

  1. Demonstrated ability to deliver results by working across subject areas and organizational boundaries.
  2. Excellent influencing and relationship building skills.
  3. Experience working cross-culturally and leading cross-functionally.
  4. Highly skilled communicator, able to synthesize large quantities of information.

Problem Solving / Structuring / Analytical Abilities:

  1. Strong strategic and critical thinking skills.
  2. Creative decision maker who can work independently.
  3. Strong program planning skills with experience structuring large initiatives.

Experience / Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering field or related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
  2. 7+ years of related experience in consulting, technology platform product management, and/or large strategic program management.
  3. Experience with using Jira, Confluence, and Slack desirable but not essential.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $155,000.00 to $217,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $248,000.00, based on performance.
