Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, this position is responsible for developing, administering and evaluating occupational health services {prevention and control of communicable diseases and work-related illnesses, accidents and injuries}. This position promotes safety practices in collaboration with Risk Management, the Safety Officer and Workers Comp Coordinator as well as with staff and management employees. This position holds a seat on the Employee Safety and Infection Control committees and any other committees as deemed necessary. This position also coordinates resolution of employee health/infection control issues with the infection control practitioner. Under the clinical supervision of the Hospital Epidemiologist and Infection Control, consults regarding infectious/communicable diseases as they relate to employee health issues. Duties include the education of hospital staff, volunteers, and physicians. Serves as a resource person, utilizing the expertise of the Hospital Epidemiologist. Possesses detailed and organized employee health records. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the employees needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development for all ages including adolescent, adult and geriatric. This position maintains an employee health data base and works with other Human Resources staff to ensure, workers compensation and transitional duty policies are being consistently applied. Situations may occur that require responding during off hours. Internal and external contacts include but are not limited to: employees, management, administration, Hospital Epidemiologist, Infection Control, Corporate worker’s compensation staff, insurance carrier, and the State Health Dept .

What qualifications you will need:
  • Registered Nurse
  • Degree in Nursing
  • Five years clinical experience required. At least two years experience in Employee Health/Workers Compensation preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

St. Marks has expanded emergency access to the communities we serve with two free standing emergency centers, Taylorsville Emergency Center and West Valley Emergency Center. Both locations have 10 plus patient rooms are staffed 24/7 by experienced board-certified emergency room physicians, nurses and support teams from St. Marks Hospital. In addition to ER care, both facilities give comprehensive imaging services, including computerized tomography (CT scan), Xray, and ultrasound as well as a fully-equipped medical laboratory.
